When the good folks at Benbella invited me along to take part in another anthology--this time based on the award-winning TV series Desperate Housewives --I couldn't resist, because last time around with Flirting with Pride and Prejudice was such a lot of fun, and this time around was just as much fun. So here's a little Q & A from behind the scenes with Welcome to Wisteria Lane.

Q. Michelle, your piece in Welcome to Wisteria Lane is entitled Desperately Seeking Susan. I thought that was a movie featuring Madonna, and also featuring big, pouffy hair and bangles. Lots of them. Bling!

A. It is a movie featuring Madonna, whom I totally admire. And the movie is one of my favorites. I love all that big, pouffy hair and bangles! Bling! So when I decided to write my piece about Susan Mayer, it was kind of fun and appropriate and a tribute to name the piece after the movie.

Q. Out of all the housewives in Wisteria Lane, Susan is the one who borrows trouble a lot, is a ditz, and is always getting into scrapes. Why did you choose her for your piece?

A. Because I have a tendency to root for the underdog. Poor Susan! Plus, I think that she's misunderstood. So I couldn't resist exploring the real Susan Mayer, and why I came to the conclusion that she is the best, most trustworthy and loyal housewife of the bunch.

Q.  Do you really think that Susan is the best, most trustworthy and loyal housewife of the bunch? But why?

A. Yes, I really think that. But if I explain all of my reasons then I will have to type the entire essay here, which I don't think would go down well with my publisher J. All of the answers are here...
